Us Scott #1 Franklin 1847 Used 4-margins Jumbo On Cover Census Nice Clean
Tied by a pen cancel, the stamp is completely fault free and sound. Excellent example of this popular stamp in a solid brown shade. It is a 4-margin stamp, with large space around the frameline on all sides! This exact cover is recorded in the census of the 1847 issues. Please examine the photos, Thank You! Please examine the quality pictures, as they support the description. Any known faults will be listed in the description. I use a 30 power magnifier on each stamp under good lighting to assess the condition of each item I list. I try to price items fairly based on their eye appeal, condition, rarity, and the overall market prices of that issue. This particular collection of stamps is from an excellent, old collection from Marietta, Ohio. In fact, most of the stamps I will be listing (there are hundreds) have not been thoroughly inspected in over 50 years. Truly astonishing, as there are few old collections with this degree of quality and completeness. Interesting enough, the Devol family was one of the first settlers into the region of Marrieta, Ohio back in the 1790s. Lots of history wrapped up into every stamp you will see. I have been educated in Philately for the majority of my life. For all of the fellow collectors and dealers out there. It is sad to see this year’s shows and meetings in philately be ruined by this virus. Truly unprecedented and unfortunate; I wish you all luck in continuing to grow your collections in alternative ways.
