Pretty 1858 Stampless Folded Letter From Fort Laramie, Nebraska Territory Addressed to the Ordnance Department of the US Army at Washington, D. Dec 26 (1858) CDS and “FREE” Handstamps with Official Business Endorsement Receipt Docketing Jan 22, 1859. George Washington Hazzard was an 1847 West Point Graduate who became a Colonel in the Union Army. He was wounded at the Battle of White Oak Swamp in 1862 and subsequently died from his injuries. His grave is in Baltimore. The Cover is ex-Risvold and ex-Walske. It is illustrated and described in the Walske / Frajola “Mails of the Westward Expansion”.
