SCOTT 1a BLACKISH BROWN – DOT IN “S” VARIETY – USED – FINE (THREE MARGINS) CENTERED – ORANGE or ORANGE-RED GRID CANCEL – 1847 FRANKLIN IMPERFORATE ISSUE. The shade is Blackish-Brown determined from the color plates issued by Philatelic Research, Ltd. The cancel is either Orange or Orange-Red, circle grid. There is a small thin in the upper right corner, reasonably visible in the reverse scan and highlighted enlargement in the last scan. Overall an outstanding specimen in appearance and content, with the thin an absolute bargain! This will be a great addition to a collection now and for the future. Thank you for looking.
