M1951 Fishtail Parka Second Pattern Shell Stamped Size Large Mod M51 Parka Liner
Original Korean War era period item. Produced 1952 / 1953. Second Pattern Poplin Cotton Version. Comes with matching Second Pattern Liner. This parka is ink stamped size large but please check the measurements taken from this parka near the bottom of this listing, as vintage uniform sizing is not the same as modern everyday clothing. Original bright alloy oversize Conmar zipper in perfect working order, free from corrosion and verdigris appears as new and still retains its woven pull tab with metal wire ring. Manufactures contract information, date and spec ink stamp now almost too faint too read, and would appear to have been very lightly stamped from new on the interior of hood. I can just make out the manufacturers name SUPERBA FASHIONS CO. Date 16th June 1953 and pattern date 12th March 1951. Wool lined pocket interiors and linings as new. Made by Scovill MFG. Closure snaps are present, working and as new condition. Parka also features oversized second pattern dish type cuff fastening buttons, and elasticated bottom up cuff fastenings to keep out the drafts and cold weather. The cuffs and fastening on this parka are in perfect working order and look as new, they are free from signs of wear or damage. Army and name G. Tapes have been removed from chest, meaning this parka was mostly like issued but looks to have been only worn a very few times if at all. Parka shell produced in poplin cotton, olive green U. Army shade 107 or OG 107 for short. Attached hood and epaulettes. Manufacturing date 1952 / 1953. All draw strings present… Hood, waist and hem and still retain their plastic aglets. Near perfect colour retention, worn a handful for time only, very light use only and a. Superb looking poplin parka. Stamped size large with corresponding measurements consistent with that of a large a M51 parka. (Measurements can vary between parkas of the same stamped or labelled size).
